Two people lose hands in fireworks accidents near Muckleshoot Casion | KOMO

Just another 4th of July around these parts.

I like this idea though- open up the reservations for idiots to go and light their fireworks. They buy them there, they can shoot them off there.

No need for neighborhoods to sound like a war zone, and have the good chance of innocent people or property being affected.

Got news for you. Fireworks are illegal in NJ and every 4th I still hear people setting them off. Making them illegal will not make your neighborhood quiet.

I don't have illusions that they will all be gone, but it will certainly not be as bad as it currently is.

ETA: I have lived in places where they were illegal. There still were people who felt the need to "express their freedom" by lighting a couple of fireworks, but it NEVER sounded, literally, like a war zone.

Yep... I live about 20 minutes from that Casino and don't feel sorry for these people that injure themselves... not one bit.

Probably the same sorry SOB's that kept me up half the night shooting fireworks... what are you supposed to do when you are trying to get some sleep and it sounds like World War III outside?

Ridiculous.

Keep buying the fireworks... keep blowing your hands off... you won't get my pity.

Exactly.

But, ya know, your peaceful enjoyment of your property doesn't matter when people are "expressing their freedom"!

That's pretty bad.
Didn't know sparklers can explode like that.
Thankfully, it was due to celebration and not terrorism. Hope they don't get the idea.

Looks like few more of them can actually blow a car just like a bomb:

BTW, we used to light up individual Chinese firecracker like below and compete among friends who can hold it the longest before throwing.
Yes, stupid and I burned/blistered my fingers few times but it wasn't big enough to do serious damage.

It's reasons like this why certain fireworks are illegal. Though on the other hand it's because fireworks are illegal that people have to find loopholes in it and come up with sparkler bombs...

I have been there and have done that. I never "won" the contest however.

And how many times a year are fireworks either legal or officially tolerated? My guess is that you get to enjoy your property in peace, free from fire works, 99.7% of the time. I also wish my neighbors acted and thought like me 100% of the time. I, know, however, that this is not likely to happen.

Wasn't there another stupid last year in 2015 who put a mortar tube on his head and died?
