Strangely enough I just saw a House Hunters today based in the Faroe Islands. How interesting. They look beautiful but I'm guessing seriously cold during the winter! It did mention many people had not heard of them- I guess Google included.

I'm not a fan of farmed salmon, but the ones that come from the Faroe Islands are pretty good. That's how I initially found out about them.

Have you seriously never heard of Malta?!?

It is situated south of Sicily, but is not part of Italy, it is a country. It was formally under British rule until 1964 when it became independent, then became a republic in 1974, though it remains part of the Commonwealth...

Sadly I think not... I can get some may not know exactly where it is situated (I struggle with placing certain obscure places on a map) but you would think they would at least heard of it...

I hope he was kidding. However we all have seen "man on the street" type late night comedian interviews with people who do not know where major nations like Germany or France are. Malta is a small nation, any educated person should know where it is, but sadly ignorance has become common.

More windy than cold.

As far as actual street mileage? In 7 days in the Faroes, I think I drove on 90%+ of the roads. There's just not a lot of road mileage in the islands. But the sheep still make for a good story.

The faroes are indeed beautiful, though. This is from my hike two weeks ago:
