Exactly, I worked for Wachovia right before they merged into Wells Fargo. The sales goals Wells has were horrifying, I was lucky enough to hook a job with a credit union before the merger really got into high gear.

But all we need is government regulators to get out of the way, and cut taxes on big corporations. Those businesses will then do what is right by customers and employees out of the kindness of their hearts, make lots of money, and that money will trickle down to everyone else and create a job for everyone who wants one!

I've been getting e-mails about a Wells Fargo account that I do not have. This has been going on for three years. Wells Fargo keeps telling me I don't have any account with them but a mortgage (true). However, this is for a business account. I've never had one of those with Wells Fargo.

Perhaps this has something to do with it.

The most amazing thing is that Wells Fargo has so many employees that 5300 is like a drop in the bucket. No bank should be that big.

This is really unbelievable. Why isn't anybody going to jail for this?
I had an account at WF some years ago and had to close it due to some 'monkey business' with my deposits. Never again.

I wonder what my niece had to do to become a branch manager?

Perhaps this has something to do with it.
I've been with Wells Fargo for years, from the time they bought out another bank I had been with. I only have my checking account there , simply for my debit card and direct deposit of my paycheck.

One day I placed an order with some company on the phone, and they called me back, said when they ran the usual information......account number, expiration date, and code on back of card, that my phone number did not match the one on my Wells account. I said I understood that because I had been with Wells for years, and had numerous phone numbers during that time, and had never updated it.

I called Wells to have my phone number changed, and the guy on the phone said "Do you want the number changed on ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS ?" I told him I only had ONE ACCOUNT, and he said, "No, you have more than one !"

Long story short, I went to the bank and found out someone had opened a loan in my name 13 months earlier for $1500 and had never made a payment. When I asked why they had not contacted me, asking for payments, they said because the loan was at a different address and phone number. They would not tell me that information, even though it was on MY ACCOUNT !

They turned it over to their fraud dept and I got a letter a month or so later, saying they had wiped out my "loan" and cleared it off my record. When I asked them how this could happen and how they could make a loan so easily, they really didn't have a good answer. That is why I keep them for only my debit card, and I check my balance every single day to make sure no one has done anything fishy.

But the strangest part is, for 13 months that that loan was not being paid, why didn't someone call me to try to collect ? What kind of system is that ?

Don

I found this out for the first time today. Had no idea if you work at a bank you need to meet sales quotas.

5300 employees is over several years, for many reasons. That's a little deceiving. I'm more concerned with how many, higher ups are going to be prosecuted now that its in the spotlight.
