Apparently there is a law against wearing a mask in public. Seems kind of silly. Can I wear a veil?
What about clown make up?
What if you just have a really ugly or disfigured face? Are you prohibited from walking in the woods and waving at people?
What about those characters who stand by the road and wave you into a business while dressed as a character or even (oh my) a clown? Illegal apparently.
There was a town in California that had a bunch of people who dressed as clowns and went walking around at night. I thought it was funny. Crazy you can be arrested for that. Halloween must be a heyday for the police.
Probably not like a clown. Probably looks more like you or me (well not me since I am(was) a clown). thus it would be foolish to judge the guy in a polo shirt, or a suit as safer than a guy in a clown get up.
Would it be OK with people if someone dressed as big foot and hung out in the woods? What about Pikachu? PeeWee Herman? What if someone dressed up like a fireman and hung out int he woods? Would you shoot them or have them arrested?
This makes no sense to me. There are no laws against dressing in a costume. At most it is possible they are trespassing, but probably not if they are within the road easement (not sure on that one).
Well...PeeWee Herman is kind of scary too.
As I said I think it is one, they are scary clowns not just clowns but mostly law enforcement is afraid they may get shot.
Any fool lurking around my neighborhood in a "creepy clown costume" had better pray the I do not notice him because the next official on the scene will likely be the CORONER. Some stunts go way beyond foolish cranks and move themselves out of the legal system.
Grow up. Do people have no sense of humor? What happened to the first amendment?

What doesn't make sense? Granted, there is no law against wearing a costume. However, there is a law against luring children, into the woods or otherwise.

Seriously... Did you even read the article?
what is "luring children into the woods?" What exactly does the law prohibit?
I have been paid to be clown. Stood in a wooded park and "lured" children into the woods where I was by doing magic and making animal balloons - and yes, giving them candy too.
The article really says nothing at all. Did you read it? No where does it say "luring children into the woods" is illegal. It also does not say he lured children into the woods, nor that he tried to do so. Oh but he was dressed s a clown - therefore he must have had bad intent. Of course thinking about it at all one would realize a person with bad intent would not dress as a clown unless they were in a horror movie. They would dress as an ordinary guy. Or in most cases as somone pointed out as a brother, uncle, cousin, stepparent, or grandparent. You need not fear clowns. You need to fear relatives. The real world is different than movies. Movies are pretend, not reality. The bad guys in real life donot dress in horrifying costumes and advertise "I am a bad guy."
It says wearing a mask in public and disorderly conduct are illegal. I am not sure how they will make disorderly conduct stick. He will probably be ticketed for wearing a mask in public and fined $25. Either one is a civil infraction, not a crime. The only illegal act he may have done that I can think of is trespassing on private property, depending on who owns the woods. Frankly, it appears he was just begin a goofball and someone freaked out.
When I was in college and commuting to schools we sometimes had an assortment of masks. When get got the attention of a kid in an adjoining car, we would all duck down put on the masks and pop back up and wave (except the driver). Then we would duck back down and remove the masks before the kid got the parent's attention. Then repeat. the occasions when the parents finally caught us, they would laugh. Today, they would probably freak out call the police and post 1000 things on social media and start a region wide panic to find the Parrot, Clown, and Ronald Reagan caricature who were undoubtedly secretly crazed axe murderers trying to lure children into their car.

Bats...nah. But yes, clowns are evil. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of them, but they definitely creep me out. The world was a messed up place when people thought clowns were fun/funny.
Is it just me, or does Lurking Clown sound like the name of that band you saw play several times in college, the one that was popular locally but never could quite get a recording contract?

Good luck with your murder conviction goals of 2016.
Its not illegal to act creepy or to dress in a creepy clown outfit, as long as someone isn't doing any harm or breaking any laws, they can dress or act however they like. People are getting out of control over this clown stuff. Its a freaking costume and you got a bunch of adults acting like little kids terrified of the monster under the bed.
