A. Boat has been reported as his
B. He only made about 6.5 million so far in his career (knock that in half just in taxes/agent fees) then deduct spending. This kid probably didn't have 1mm in cash in the bank
C. Lawsuits will fly. Lawyers will get rich. His child will be lucky to get 10% of the net proceeds.

The Marlins are playing the Mets (my team) tonight at home and they just had a beautiful ceremony to honor Jose Fernandez. The players are devastated, it's very difficult to watch.

Dee Gordon lead off HR and crying all the way around the bases. I'm pretty sure Bartolo threw him a batting practice pitch but still an incredibly emotional moment

So so sad. I watched the video where they brought his grandmother over to watch one of his games, as a surprise to him. What a loving grandson and son he was. So very sorry for his family.

He was a big part of the Cuban community here in the Miami area. He will be sadly missed. Life is short so that is why I always try to be happy and do what pleases me in my spare time.

People do dumb things sometimes and make mistakes. They evidently were in a high speed boat, blasting along in the dark, and didn't see the rocks. I've been out in a boat a zillion times at night, and it looks totally different than during daylight. Landmarks are hard to see and hazards can be hidden by the darkness. I've come close to hitting a channel marker myself because of how dark it is out on the water at night.

Certainly sad. He was so looking forward to being a dad, and he was so young and talented.

I originally thought this was one of those celebrity death hoaxes, when I first saw it on FB Sunday morning.

They should make a movie about his life.

He tried 3 times to escape from Cuba before he succeeded. The last time, he saw someone fall into the water in the dark, so he jumped in to help that person. It turned out to be his own mother. The more I learn about this kid the more I am blown away. When he pitched against my Mets he was always dominant, but he played with such exuberance that I couldn't root against him the way I root against our other baseball "enemies". I always wished he'd be on my team someday. So sad.

Lots of rich people die doing recreational activities because they have the means to go fast and they usually don't have the experience. Many stars or rich die crashing fast race cars because they think they can handle one because they can afford it.

Some die flying airplanes because they believe they are king of the world.
