British photographer David Hamilton found dead in Paris, as his alleged rape victims say he has escaped justice*

The thing is that if one has been a student of ballet (at least), one has probably seen his work, had been inspired by it, perhaps has even collected it (as I have).

The outside world (including the PC one) set aside for a moment, perhaps it comes down to that whatever we know, there is whatever we feel.

Hamilton was always a controversial figure and some of his work was at the forefront of the 'is it art or pornography?' debate.

The Rape allegations furthered the controversy, although I don't like to hear of anyones death, and I wish his family well at this sad time.

Might as well call the creation of my grand parents, parents, and myself rape as well. So sad that he passed and all the media could do is chase down "people" and turn it into another Michael Jackson is gay parade.

Pornography is associated with religion. It is "porn" only when you consider it so. You had this man in law back in the mid 1990's calling "Anything that makes you aroused" pornography. Again the term is associated with religion.

As Hamilton chose to commit suicide, we will never know.

At best his work was controversial, as are the claims from a number of women who were young girls at the time.

The authorities base what they see as indecency based on the image being obscene in character, the COPINE Scale is a rating system created in Ireland and used in the United Kingdom to categorise the severity of images of child sex abuse.

As for whether Hamilton's work was obscene, that is a matter for debate.

ballet is hard enough as it is without trying to take photographs while you're doing it

LOL I was doing that last year. I hate when people spit on the ground because it might be dry but I feel it. Same with pigeon droppings. That person on the ground is trying to capture an area that is out of reach, or is avoiding the sun. She just dropped her back and started to shoot. I almost got run over by a car a couple of times.

Ballet photography is annoying because you need to get an angle, the dancers are moving and might hit you. The dancing is never perfect and they might fall on you. Or you might not be paying attention. Also the $%#!$! light is low and your not in control of that situation unless your allowed setup.

I saw some of his works. Mostly fruit or the body before it is pregnant. Most of the people in the photographs have hair or is covered. Otherwise they are young adults for the most part. Nothing sexual or over sexual. If anything then it is very limited. Maybe some anti-religious ideas but limited. He is using long-term exposure with Medium frame film camera. You can see moving particles and appear to be washed out. So they look like paintings from the 1500's. This is result of long exposure. I am not too sure about the type of film he is using but it must be expensive due to the Medium-Frame.

He also wrote some books and directed some films. Same ole, same ole. I could understand how some of the women do feel but only because they probably have other issues including being mislead by propaganda.

I found a framed photo of him as a child amongst my late mothers items. It’s an original photo in a wood oval Frame with beveled glass. He looks to be maybe 2 years old. The back of the frame has a story taped to the back of it about David Hamilton. The story was before his death.

I would post a picture of it if I knew how on this site. Do you think this framed photograph is worth anything and how would I go about finding out?
