And he's still allowed to teach while on probation (but isn't in a classroom luckily).

Sick, sick, sick!

Much ado about nothing. But, this IS typical of today's society where everyone's every move is not only being caught on camera but also displayed publicly to incite the angst of those who have nothing better to do in their mundane lives than to be 'shocked' by every little thing. The boy could have pulled back and said, "Cut that out!" and laid the matter to rest.

As a teacher, he knew the kids in his class. Like most molesters, they choose the weaker ones, the ones with low self esteem who have a hard time standing up for themselves. He used his position to get this boy to comply.

Luckily, this boy was stronger than the teacher knew and he told someone.

This was just the beginning. This is how molesters groom their victim. They start with small things and work their way up like the proverbial frog in a pot of water. Luckily this guy misgauged and moved a little too quickly and the frog realized what was going on and hopped out. This guy needs to be taken to account because using what he learned with this one, the next one won't be so lucky.

Not quite. Things like this never happened when I was a kid. Teachers simply did not behave like this. And when they did, they were sent packing.

This incident is a commentary on the depths to which the teaching vocation has slid.

It is NOT much ado about nothing! This is NOT a "little thing".

Kids are usually taught to respect authority figures. If that were not the case, there would not be so many reported cases of priests sexually abusing kids.

The boy was called up to an otherwise empty classroom.

This wasn't something innocent. And I find it disgusting that this guy will still be allowed to teach.

And when this kid says no and backs away in a big empty classroom with a fully grown teacher? What happens then? You just assume the teacher will stop?

I really can't understand your response, almost like silent acceptance. The real issue is those who will try to normalize abhorrent behavior when it is anything but normal. Did you have teachers kiss you on the mouth when you were a kid? Right vs. Wrong. Period. This isn't about a good teacher who gets hit with a frivolous lawsuit by trying to comfort an upset child with a hug; these are the same dregs of society who are allowed to move from one school district to the next to continue preying on young students with nary a slap on the wrist.
