Memorial Day 2017

It is the VETERAN,
not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN,
not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN,
not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN,
not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN,
not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN, who serves under the Flag,
To be buried by the flag, so the protestors can burn the Flag.

Today is Memorial Day, not Veteran's Day.

Don't Say 'Thank You For Your Service' This Monday : NPR

Quote:
As most people are aware (or should be), Memorial Day and Veterans Day serve different purposes.
Veterans Day is to honor the service of people who have worn the uniforms of the armed forces.
Memorial Day is intended to remember those who died while serving.

Some gave all, we all gave some.

Memorial Day is about those who gave us their all.
It is not about those of us who only gave some.

I only gave 20 years, I am still here to raise a glass in memory of those who gave their all.

"Given us" should be "protected our". Our rights come from our Creator. Enshrined in the Constitution which was written by mostly non-veterans. And protected by our veterans.

We owe our freedoms to the lives of veterans that have fought and died for America.
The First amendment is closely guarded by the second by a brave man with a gun in his hand and freedom in his heart.

Lets not ever forget.
