So was it the price that offended her?

The guy is a sharp guy, after all he is staying at a Holiday Inn Express!

Why exactly did she wait for him to return with the dog before calling 911?

Exactly. Not to blame the girl in any way but he gave every reason for her to have him removed by the police.

She was a teenager. Undoubtedly, she hadn't been trained by the manager in how to handle belligerent and potentially violent guests or members of the public. She probably hoped he'd just go away; either hoping they were empty threats, or that he'd get upstairs and would forget about it, or get too drunk to do anything. She was wrong. She did the right thing by locking herself into the manager's room, and calling police. Police nabbed the guy. The story has a happy ending. And the girl learned how dangerous her job can be.

I've been to hotels like that, that are staffed by college students--the latest source of cheap labor. It's not safe. Why can't America's businesses afford to pay adults, like they used to? What's going on with American business in general, that it's been 3rd World-izing itself? Why can't businesses afford to function without hiring marginal workers of one sort or another, and paying decent benefits?
