'Ruthless human smugglers' blamed for deaths of 8 people left in a truck in 100-degree Texas heat - LA Times

This is so sad. I couldn't tell from if this was sex trafficking or illegal immigration smuggling. But absolutely horrible either way.

There were two 15-year-olds and men on board. Sounds like illegal immigration to me.

A packing plant used to haul illegals north in a double decker cattle trailer.

They were all laying down.

Yet more victims of the failure for the US to aggressively enforce its laws. As long as these people feel they can receive employment and reside in the US with a low probability of getting caught, these things will continue.

Ah, ok, I missed that. The headline of the article said "Human Trafficking," which made me think of kidnapping women and girls for sex. Either way it is very sad. These people who died must have felt very desperate to even try this. And, as someone else mentioned, the fact that the US does not strictly enforce immigration law leads to desperate people thinking that being smuggled in will be successful.

Illegal. Hopefully, someone gets arrested for murder. The refrigeration went out in the trailer. I don't know how long it was out, but there had to be some contact between the driver and those inside.

There are plenty of facets to this case. Please remember that immigration law/illegal immigration isn't one of the angles to explore here at Current Events (as per forum sticky). Acknowledging it is fine but then move on to other aspects please. Thanks all.

Human trafficking isn't only about enslaving women and girls for sex. That seems to be what most people think when they see this term, but it encompasses all aspects of enslaving people for whatever people force them to do.

In Thailand, there's a huge controversy going on there about human trafficking and slavery of people working on fishing boats and the like.

Hope word of this gets back to Mexico quickly; it may prevent more needless deaths.
