And again. And again. And again.

A 3-year-old boy found dead in a day care van had been left there for possibly 11 hours, in temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, police in Florida said Tuesday.

An employee who failed to perform a head count when the vehicle arrived at the Little Miracles Academy Monday will be charged in connection with the death, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at a press conference Tuesday.

This little one was failed in so many ways. His mother didn't have custody, his great grandmother (who was willing to step up and take custody) had him in daycare over 11 hours a day, forcing him to be picked up and delivered home in a van where he was not in a child restraint.

He looks like a very large boy, and I don't know what the regulations for car seats are in Florida, but I believe in Texas it would be required that he at least have a booster which he apparently didn't have. Or maybe he did, and he was able to undo the latch.

Anyway, sad. You'd think somewhere along the way his absence would be noticed and investigated.

Better late than never? I still don't understand how you can forget a human being.

I know, I know, habits, daycare, not my day or turn. I looked at the car seat every time I got out of the car, even when my child wasn't with me. Habit. No one is going to die for stupid reasons on my watch.

I understand how lack of him exiting at his stop could be missed. I do NOT understand how checking the Van completely after the day is done could ever be missed. I have not done that job, but in every job I have had there were certain things that were ground into everyone's psyche so hard it could not be forgotten.

They held his picture on the news the entire time they told the story and broke my heart. Imagining how he suffered.

I hope no one blames this poor great grandmother who likely was doing the best she could.

Yes, it was described in excruciating detail when that man left his toddler (seemingly on purpose) in his car.
