Nope. The iPhone 10 is not a young person "selfie machine". It's an affluent person status symbol. The 6, 6s, 7, and now the 8 all look identical so they're no longer a status symbol since everyone has one. Most affluent people will justify it by saying it gives the display square inches of a "plus" iPhone while still being able to fit in their pocket like their regular iPhone. I'd like to have a "plus" but it's just to freakin' big.

I went from 4s to 6s. Almost four years. I'll likely do the same with the 6s. I'll skip the X and maybe think about next year's Xs.

At $1000+, that's one expensive selfie taker.

I was trying to figure out what made the X so exciting. I will just wait for the 8 and X to fully launch and buy a 7 for way less.

They already discounted the price of the 7 yesterday if you plan on buying from Apple.

So, you like your "affluent person status symbol" to be one that you keep for several years?

I upgrade my iPhones yearly and have done so ever since the first phone launched in 2007.

I like to play around with new tech. I work from home. I don't flash by phone at anyone because I don't give a crap what they like.

You almost have to because Apple makes sure they auto-combust when they are a year old.

I have had a lot of iphones...I do get the insurance on them. They almost always fail in some way at a year. If you are lucky its the battery. But sometimes its the motherboard. Now its an unfixable software glitch...or so it seems. Mine kind of works.

So I am on a 5. How is the 7? What are the perks of the 8 or X? Any thoughts?

I don't give a crap about selfies but I would love awesome camera quality and would pay more for that if it was excellent.
