People who rent from Airbnb should always check for these things.

Quote:
An Indiana couple on vacation was stunned to find a hidden camera above their bed in an Airbnb they rented in Florida, police said.

Derek Starnes and his wife were staying in a condo at 623 Cedars Court in Longboat Key when he noticed a small black hole on the side of a smoke detector in the room, he told reporters.

I check for stuff like that in regular hotels! I wouldn't stay in an Airbnb and not search before I even unpacked! that's crazy

It's happened in hotels too. Remember Erin Andrews?

My wife always laughs at me because I do a sweep of the rooms we stay at whenever we rent. Luckily I haven't found anything yet.

Yeah I did a search after seeing that charge and kind of came to the same conclusion. This is a disgusting act, it deserves a severe penalty.

Me? I would never think to look for a tiny camera. The recording will be very disappointing to the owner anyway.

When I worked for one of the major hotel chains, I received an email one day from my regional manager to inform us that they were finding hidden cameras in some of the hotels we had. One of them looked exactly like an alarm clock, another was a fire sprinkler with the tiniest hole that was the camera. You'd never know that difference.

I quit my job after discovering our company recorded, listened, and videotaped everything that happened on company premises, on the phone or otherwise. There was video surveillance in every room of the office that I saw (except maybe the bathroom). And this was just an eye doctor, not the CIA or anything. It made me feel paranoid and uncomfortable all the time. The last straw occurred when my manager answered a trivial question I posed to my coworker from another room. He was listening in on our entire conversation.
