It's not just milkshakes. It's eating any such unhealthy foods, all day long.
Macaroni, fries, cookies and ice cream aren't just high in fat, they're high in carbohydrates, and this meal was incredibly high in calories. (And who eats like this all day long?) See confounding variables.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest is a vegan activist group. If they were a group who really wanted to show the effects of eating high-fat food, they'd have done an experiment with coconuts, avocados and pork belly at a normal calorie level.

A married couple ate such a diet (real food, high-fat, moderate protein, low-carb) while rowing 2,400 miles from San Francisco to Hawaii--and set a world record.

The 90's called. They want their myths about fat back.

Edited to add:
Low-fat milkshakes often contain added dihydrogen monoxide , a molecule with unique properties, to fill the volume of missing fat.

Dihydrogen monoxide in its pure form has a ph of 7! That's higher than any other acid!!!!

There is so much pure bunk out there published by "researchers" who live on, guess who's dime, ours!

Remember butter? Bad. Good.
Coffee. Bad. Good.
Eggs. Bad. Good.

For years I wondered why my mother totally ignored all this "research" by "experts" on food and such. She grew up on a farm and ate farm products. Whole milk. Beef. Chicken. Eggs.

I'd say 80% of these expert researchers couldn't find a real job if their life depended on it. So instead we get this blarney. Believe it if you like.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

Although many studies have been conducted showing that drinking coffee is GOOD for your health and can prevent some types of cancer, a judge in California is forcing labels on coffee to state 'coffee can cause cancer'. I'm waiting for warning labels on lettuce.

The shelf time of these "studies" are about a week. Can someone quote me a single study from the 80s that is still being followed?

I agree.

If we avoided everything that was bad for us or possibly hazardous to our health, we might as well live in bubbles.

If we paid attention to every cancer causing agent, or what could happen if blah blah blah, we'd all be scared skinny.

Moderation is the key, and even that isn't a promise for a long life.

I eat pretty healthy these days, but the day I have to check into a nursing home is the day I start consuming milkshakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Everyone said it first.

Waiting for the headline "eating one high-fat low-carb meal..."
