What difference does it make? Hispanic people eat all kinds of food, Mexican, Chinese, Italian just like everyone else regardless where they’re from. I don’t understand what point you guys are trying to make.
OMG, seriously.
All this to prove a point? The gist has already been given. More people KNOW TB than any other "Mexican" eatery, taken as a whole across the nation and it would up as "favorite." The end.

Now go eat dinner.
Well that point has been made many times already! It's really just a battle between Taco Bell and Chipotle
He's insinuating that LA Mexican food is somehow more authentic than that of NYC.
Sure LA has greater abundance of Mexican food, but NYC does have a large Mexican population, and there are a ton of Mexican run restaurants/taco trucks catering to Mexican immigrants and their children.
I don’t really think the number of Mexican restaurants has as much to do with the Mexican population as it does the number of tourists and others who go out to eat. I very rarely see Mexican people in Mexican restaurant eating just as I very seldom see Chinese people in Chinese restaurant eating. I don’t think going out to eat is as prevalent in those populations as in American culture. I think both L.A. and NYC are both pretty well known for good restaurants of all types.

It depends where you go out to eat. In NYC (I'm sure it's the same thing in LA), Mexicans open up restaurants both in destination neighborhoods (the ones where people go out to eat and drink) as well as Mexican enclaves. In the latter, you would definitely see plenty of Mexican people. There is overlap too, of course. Such as foodies going into ethnic neighborhoods to eat, or Mexican people working, hanging out, or living in destination neighborhoods. You could apply this to any ethnic group.
It is true what you said about eating out, but keep in mind immigrants often have children in the US who might have more disposable income to go out to eat. There's a Mexican restaurant I go to in Brooklyn (with both sit down and takeout service) and you see a lot of Mexican/Latino people eating there, both US born and immigrant.
It's a lot like take-out Chinese food vs. authentic. More sodium = tastes better... at least in the short term. I like a mix of both. Spice of life and all that.

Opposite here. Mexican places here cater to Mexicans. And are filled with Mexicans.

I won't touch Chipolte. Far too many people in my area got sick from eating there.
