Agreed 100%. Hell I've seen videos of them climbing chain link fences.

However that is a very different thing than virtually every pond or lake in Florida having a gator in it. I submit if you go to your average Florida golf course and count gators in water traps you'll come up well short of 18.

Last year there was a barefoot waterski competition in a gator-filled canal that goes through a wildlife preserve.

If you stand on the bank the gators practically come up to you. I assume some fishermen leave scraps behind. Or think it’s funny to toss the scraps...

I used to water ski in the caloosahatchee river which is brackish. They had glass and a slalom course setup. When you fell it was always a mad dash back to the boat. The engine noise would scare them away though.

That’s what. I figured; still think I’d worry too much.

Some people paddleboard on the Loxahatchee with their dogs.

It seems (and is 100% true for me) that’s it’s a lot easier to fall off of a paddle board than out of a kayak or canoe.

And the dogs jump off and swim. Disturbs me to no end.

You can be an idiot, just don’t drag your dog in with you.

Ehh... you'll even find alligators on islands like Sanibel. Not really much of an exaggeration.

Source - saw alligators on Sanibel Island... in freshwater just yards from the beach.

Yeah pretty much. I’ve seen them in ditches.

Any body of water in Florida has gators and snakes and other animals dangerous to humans.

We have the same problem at Smokey mountain national park. People approach the bears and elk. They forget that these are wild animals. When something bad happens they will find someone else to blame no doubt. Leave wildlife alone, don’t taunt bears, don’t swim with gators, don’t pick up poison snakes etc., you will live longer.
