A former Playboy centerfold involved in a custody battle apparently jumped with her 7-year-old son to their deaths from the 25th floor of a Manhattan hotel, law enforcement officials said Friday.
It sounds like she was planning to move to Europe, where she had a bf, and her husband or ex or whatever he was, was trying to prevent her from taking their son out of the US.
Just because a person is of adult age doesn't mean they are an adult in their mind and with their emotions. Millions of people go through life and die with the mentality of a child.
I remember, as an 8 year old, one kid on the block who got a new bike. Others asked to take a ride on it...so he spit on the seat so no one else would ride it.
That's the mentality of a woman like this - if SHE can't have what she wants, then no one can.
Unfortunately, you can't save people from themselves.
Poor child. Something like this happened a few years ago. A lawyer strapped her baby to her chest, and jumped out an 8th-story window. She landed on her back; the baby survived.
Maybe, or just plain evil or even so narcissistic she thought the child would be better dead than with anyone else.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental illness. And, frankly, most character traits that are deemed evil, like pychopathy, are mental disorders, as well.
What people need to understand is that mental illness is not an excuse for bad or destructive behavior, and does not preclude punishment.
What classifying and identifying mental illness does, is give us insight into what causes societal problems, and who is susceptible to creating these problems so we can intervene before things like this happen.

That's where the personality disorders are tricky, though. What can you do; identify as many narcissists in the community as possible, along with the BPD people, keep their names on a database, and then--do what, to prevent tragedies or child emotional abuse in the home? First of all, most of those people go through life undiagnosed, so how would they get identified? And how would an intervention occur? Or should they somehow be prevented from having kids? Or if a divorce or separation occurred, should some central agency delegate someone to keep an eye on them?
There are no practical solutions, even if we could test and diagnose all the people walking around "loose", with personality disorders. Some actually manage to raise healthy, productive kids.
