From January 2007 until December 2013, authorities said, Arthur and Elizabeth Rathburn ran International Biological Inc., a Detroit-area corporation that purchased donated bodies from biological resource centers and rented them to researchers.

Human bodies bring in $10,000 to $100,000; brains, $600; and elbows and hands, $850, according to court records cited by the Free Press.

The court documents said Arthur Rathburn increased the couple’s profit by not complying with standardized sanitation practices.

Gross.

That's what H.H. Holmes did.

But I would absolutely donate my body to either the Body Farm or to science in general.

They are looking to give him 14 years. The business is legal (selling parts) but he didn't do it correctly. The investigation started after several heads were shipped in to Detroit from Israel.

I understand. They were criminals and were properly punished. I edited my initial response.

What I meant was I don't have an issue with scientists, doctors, etc. acquiring bodies/body parts legally to conduct research and would be happy to contribute when my time came.

The is only one reason why I chose to be cremated upon death. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. I don't want my hand or jaw to end up as an ashtray on a super-rich guy's coffee table. When greed and profit come into play, the possibilities are endless.

I need to get a few tattoos before I donate the old corpse.....

1. Chest- "TRY CPR ONE MORE TIME!"

2. Toe- toe tag with my info, return to owner

3. Groin- death causes shrinkage

4. Neck- Just resting, try back later!

Got to make the med students laugh......

I read the article about the sentencing today but I posted a link to the original story since it outlined the crime better. Judge gave him 9 yrs today.

He made 13 million in 16 yrs so it was working!
