California looks to ban restaurants from selling soda with kids meals

Excellent idea!
And next they ought to ban cookies and desserts from being sold to anyone who has not purchased and eaten a plate of kale.
I have other, even better ideas than this, but I'm sure you can think of a few on your own.
My kids get a soda once in a great while as a treat or if we’re at a party. Neither are overweight, actually both are very slim. At any rate, it should be the parents choice what their children consume. PERIOD
It should be, I suppose, but states are required to provide dental care for children (up to the age of 21) as part of Medicaid. It should be the parents' choice only if they're footing the dental bills. Since soda/sugary-drink consumption is higher among low income kids, according to the CDC, I can see the point of trying to limit that, but it seem it would be more effective to not allow soda to be purchased with EBT cards.
With all of the problems in society, the government is concerned with passing laws on soda? What the hell? They have gangs, crime and drugs everywhere and they are wasting resources on soda. How long are people going to put up with this nonsense?

Yeah maybe but it would be a really really slow process. Carbonic acid isn't a very cohesive compound and it is also very weak. It requires pressure to stay together and that is why coke fizzes. You would mostly end up with a really sticky bumper.
Sounds like a push just to make more money for the restaurants to me?
I'm embarrassed to live here sometimes. Do they really think banning serving it with meals will stop kids from drinking it? It just makes it more difficult to order. Not to mention the meals are usually in no way healthy either, but they pick to choose to ban the soda and not the giant cheeseburger or french FRIES, you know the ones deep fried in grease.
And people wonder why California and their laws are the laughing stock of the world.
I'm curious, what are California public school lunches like? When my kids were in school, a hot lunch was pretty much a joke. The food quality was nasty looking. Most kids ate pizza every day. (yes, they had pizza.)
I find it hypocritical to try to dictate food selection to parents, but offer up 2nd rate meals themselves.

I feel the same way about New York State. I love Lake Ontario, the Finger Lake region and the beauty of western NY, but the BS from downstate, along with a liberal, controlling governor shames us all.
A governing power that legislates what free people eat and consume is a power that needs to be destroyed.
How about a warning label and minimum age 18 to buy soda? Put that dangerous stuff behind the counter. Feeding it to kids should result in a $500 fine to the evil parents!
