Will be stopping off at the to-go sushi place on my way home from work - thanks!

Flesh eating virus is something you would be far more likely to get by visiting a hospital.

The Japanese eat tons of sushi, and have the longest life expectancy. These articles are out to fearmonger as usual.

He should have used chopsticks. Or washed his hands after eating. He was already fairly ill.

IMO South Korean restaurants are less hygienic than their Japanese counterparts in preparation for sushi.

Those sashimi on the shelf on food department in major department stores in Seoul like Lotte are far less appealing than their counterparts in Japan. The color is dull and looks like have been out of water for months.

No friends I know who visited Korea ever dare try their sashimi except live baby squid.

And even worse are the sushi boxes at your local supermarket that have been sitting there sometimes for 2-3 days and yet nobody has died of a flesh eating bacteria.

Hospital, jail (never say never; it can happen to pretty much anyone, if even for a few hours), public transit station, etc...

Yes, this happened during the year I lived on the Gulf Coast. One guy lost his leg due to this bacteria. A fisherman standing in knee-deep water.

I got "cellulitis" --a deep skin serious disease from just walking in one-inch water on the Gulf. I never even swam. Almost lost my foot. I have horrible pictures I won't post here.

Glad you recovered. We stay away from the Gulf Coast. It's a shame because we used to love going there. I think these issues will become more prevalent unless something is done about water pollution. That's why I am an environmentalist.

Is that mostly due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill?

I still wonder if the Fukushima nuclear accident hasn't done more damage than we're being told.

We also seriously need to find an alternative to plastic too.

We were made stewards of the earth, but we aren't doing a very good job.
