I don't see it very often, but I do see dogs riding in carts in the grocery store in my community.

The last time I asked someone to leave their dog outside was the last time I asked. Because they called and complained and my corporate office basically told me to turn a blind eye unless I witnessed mdse being destroyed or other customers being harmed. Yes, there are dogs in stores where food is sold because they are more afraid of lawsuits and bad press than they are of being fined for a health code violation.

Again, I was responding to a poster who was talking about grocery stores. Last time I checked, none of those on your list are a grocery store. Yes, I see plenty of dogs at Petco, Petsmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and the dog friendly outlet mall. That's not what I'm talking about when I say the grocery stores here do not allow pets.

I have witnessed store managers turning people away who try to bring their dogs into grocery stores. I guess the stores others go to don't really care to adhear to health codes... Which would have me questioning which other requirments they choose to ignore. Not a place I would want to be buying foos from.

I'm not that worried about it, but there really isn't anything I buy from the local grocery store that a tiny dog in a cart would have direct contact with. People's grubby little kids touching and grabbing everything probably poses more of a health risk.

There was a lot more to the list he posted than Petsmart and Petco.

It's not socially acceptable for dogs to be in grocery stores. It's actually a health code violation. Dogs are not going around peeing on your chip bag. If they are, it's in your own home, and you have only yourself to blame.
I saw one last week prancing around Walmart. Walmart sells groceries. Just because you're unaware doesn't mean you're right.

My sister insisted on taking me grocery shopping at her local Wally World when I visited her for the weekend. It was an eye opener. I spotted five different dogs in the store in the 15 minutes we spent in the store on a Saturday afternoon.

A few weeks ago, at my local Vons, I was standing at the egg display for a few seconds and a man walked over to me with his dog and stood right next to me, smiling, like he was challenging me to comment about his dog eyeing the eggs. I walked away immediately and ended up buying eggs elsewhere.

Anecdotal? Sure. Unusual? Hardly.

Stores allow those support dogs, and they are not allowed to ask about it has it would violate the absurd ADA laws. So everyone has a claim that it is their support animal.

Publix in Florida though has cracked down on it, they stopped allowing them in baskets.

But yea, you need to get out more, I often see dogs in the grocery store, and I do not mean seeing eye dogs, they are those small little things that yap all the time.

I get out plenty, I just must go to stores that are (thankfulyl) good with following health codes since they turn away people with pets.

It's very strange that people want to make personal attacks against me because... I go to grocery stores thst follow the rules? I don't get it...

I do not know if you are being obtuse or not, but stores must allow service animals, that is federal law. All a store can ask if someone brings their dog in is "is that a service dog" and if the person says yes, that is it, nothing more can be done about it. A person does not have to disclose their disability, show papers, nothing. It is abused quite often, businesses have their hands tied because if they challenge it, they open themselves up to an ADA lawsuit.
