I'm always somewhat bemused by that typical reason given for one's being on Facebook. The alternative appears to be, if not for Facebook, my family and friends wouldn't even dream of keeping in touch since letter writing, calling on the phone, etc. would be too much effort for them. It's so much more convenient to remain 'close' when all one has to do is to click a few buttons.

Well, I don't know you but I DO know others whose entire existence appears to revolve around letting everyone know where they presently are, where they were, where they plan to be and offer up 'selfies' just to prove it ...as if anyone genuinely gives a sh-t . . .

Neither do I. But if they use the data to affect elections and other things than it affects us regardless.

Oh I agree with you. I've deleted and/or "unfollowed" all who I saw doing this. It was very annoying.
