Food servers always write my name down wrong, even after I've slowly spelled it out for them. It is very annoying and it's a waste of my time. I don't appreciate high school grads calling me by my first name anyway. It would be better to hand out numbers to the customers.
"Chang" isn't much different than "n****r" to many people. It's disrespectful. There's no explanation for how that happened other than an employee who should immediately become an ex-employee.
Assuming the last customer wasn't named Chang or some other screw up.
Also would be funny if the barrista was chinese.

"Chang" is a common Asian name. It's mostly used as a last name, though I do know one who uses it as his first name. I believe you're thinking of another "Ch-n-" word that is indeed offensive to Asian people.

I am just disgusted by this type thing happening over and over and the commenters here trying to excuse it. I am embarrassed to be a white person who may be mistaken for some of these ignorant slobs on here.
Also, if one orders off the app, isn't the name on the receipt already on there? Sounds fishy.
He didn't order through the app, he ordered at the register. He payed with a gift card through the Starbucks app, but still gave his name to the cashier verbally.
When the barista asked for his name, Festejo said, "I said, 'My name is John.'"
His full name, Johncarl, was also clearly displayed on the app he used to pay for his order.
