The thing is, I don't think we are "forcing" them. Most of them when they are in active mental illness do not want to be hospitalized. And because they aren't thinking rationally they have a resistance to being placed anywhere where they would have to follow a structured guideline of rules. They would rather be "free."
It's a fear, I think.
If you gave them free room and board without structure I'd hate to envision what that place would be like.
We used to lock them up in mental hospitals. They need to be restrained when they prove themselves to be violent and harm others. Now everyday people are subjected to this crap.
And then he immediately got shot by one of the crazies. That should have been a sign right there.
Except Hinkley, the guy who shot Reagan, didn't shoot him in California and isn't from California. Hinkley was born in Oklahoma, grew up in Texas, moved with his parents to Colorado, and went to college on and off in Texas. His only connection to California was a brief failed attempt at songwriting in Los Angeles.

He started it in California, then he did it nationwide when he became president. He defunded mental health services so he could cut his billionaire buddies taxes from 70% to 28%. Which did exactly what any person with even an average IQ, would have been able to predict it would do. It made the rich richer, the poor poorer, destroyed the middle class, and the mental patients got dumped on the streets.
Exactly! We need FAR more mental health facilities to treat these people.
I hope that when and IF they catch this woman, that the child with her will be put into a safe home with loving people. I can't imagine what that poor child has been subject to with that woman.
Remember when we had “far more mental health facilities”? I worked in one, then the government shut it down, citing abuse of civil rights. We all who worked there shook our heads and said: “Well good luck with assimilating, and no government funding?”
Always gotta have your guard up around these junkies and psychotics.
I agree. Especially when they look and act it. It's too bad that happened to her but she got too all up in her face, imo. That's a no no.
