Yeah, but I don't think that was the plan. Pepsi was eating Coke's lunch and the thought was that it had to be more Pepsi like in taste.

What they didn't take into account is that there are (or were then anyway) Pepsi drinkers and Coke drinkers and they're pretty hardened in their preference.

New Coke almost destroyed the company and disappeared and, although the company kept it, it disappeared within a couple years with no fanfare.

There were other errors, including the rather simple one that what people like in a sip (which is what the legions of taste-testers were given) is not what they like in 12 ounces of the stuff. Quite a few papers have been written on the failure of sample size.

New Coke is still right there on the shelf. It's now called... Diet Coke. If you want old Coke flavor without calories, you grab a Coke Zero. If you liked the sweeter "New Coke" taste, grab a Diet Coke.

"And d-d-don't say the P-word, kids."

Big Whoop. My girlfriend say they change shape as soon as they go in her mouth anyway. She would know.

Is this supposed to be a new thing to be outraged over? They've been like this for the past several years. I always thought they were getting damaged during the shipping and stocking process.

In seriousness, quality control can be hard when so many pieces are made at a time. That said, if all the pieces in the bag were missing their tips and this was the case for hundreds of bags, then QC should be a priority.

Maybe it's a massive retaliation by employees who hate their employer's rule that they not consume the product without paying for it. A tiny bite here. A little nibble there...

They aren't a candy I buy or see frequently, but I can't recall ever seeing misshapen or broken ones.

First world problems, we are spoiled as Hell to worry about candy ! In some 3rd world country, some kid is drinking out of a mud puddle, and we worry about candy.
