The others stood round while this was happening...including whomever was filming it...

I hope she sues McDonalds. She was attacked at work, no one helped her.

It was 2 customers that filmed it. It's probably good that they were filming it. Pretty impossible for the guy to say the black girl started it, and he's the innocent victim.

In the video I saw the other day, it seemed that the guy and the girl had had some words leading up to him grabbing her. I'm thinking while they were having angry words, that's when the customers got their cameras out, to film the verbal altercation. And then it quickly went to physical altercation.

Yes apparently thatís exactly what happened. The lady who filmed it said her and her daughter were the only other customers in the store besides this guy. He had started arguing with the staff about straws. Apparently staff are not allowed to put them out anymore, customers have to ask to get an extra. This guy was upset he had to ask and kept yelling they should put the straws out. When the lady saw he was getting louder and acting angrier with the worker who wouldnít back down, she started taping. Shortly after she started taping, he grabbed the worker. I donít think anyone expected him to grab the girl.

And he didnít expect to catch those hands lol.

What specifically is McDonald's at fault for? Should they put in their handbook that other employees have to step in, risking their own well-being, in this situation? And a few of her coworkers did step in to separate them.

They did the right thing by calling the police and trying to de-escalate the situation until they arrived. This guy could have been capable of anything.

No one helped her. No one.

He had a grip on her, she had to struggle to free herself, NO ONE helped her! There was indeed time for the males standing round to help fight this man off. Time aplenty. They stood there.

I don't know if legally McDonald's is responsible but I truly hope she sues and gets something for the sheer horror of what happened to her when trying to WORK.

I think it's important to remember that all this occured over the coarse of a minute. And it's not like the other employees were just standing around waiting for something to happen. Everyone was doing their jobs, doing whatever it is they do...and the fight broke out.

Not a "fight". An attack by a large male on a small female.

No.

This had nothing to do with a law about straws. Nothing about that law necessitates assault. Nothing. Period. Full stop.

One person is to blame for what happened. Don't try and shift the responsibility to a law just because you don't like it.

Just. No. Nothing. Period. Full stop. Seriously?

That poster simply made an offhand comment that the straw man asked for a straw, another straw, or something in violation of that ridiculous law, and got all bunged up when he didn't get it. And that set him off.

Yours is not a unique (or profound) observation that the customer was the aggressor and wholly at fault. Nor did the poster say that he wasn't.

Chuck the high drama and lighten up.

Oh all right...we're going to get semantic. At any rate, someone DID get in the middle of it all to break the 2 of them up. So...as long as we're doing semantics...it would be incorrect to say "NO ONE helped."
