Murder of Johnny Allen

On the night of 5 August 2004, 16-year-old Brown met 43-year-old Johnny Mitchell Allen in the parking lot of a Sonic Drive-In on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville, Tennessee. Allen was a real estate broker and a United States Army veteran.[12] Based on what Brown told investigators, Allen asked her if she was hungry and if she was homeless.[13][14] Brown answered yes to both questions and accepted Allen's offer to take her to his house. Brown and Allen ordered dinner and Allen drove the pair to his home.[15][16] At a later hearing, Brown testified that she agreed to have sex with Allen for US$150, but claimed that they never actually engaged in sexual intercourse.[9][16][17][18] At some point during the encounter Brown shot Allen in the back of the head using her .40-caliber handgun. She then left the house in Allen's Ford F-150 in possession of Allen's wallet, containing US$172,[19] and two of his firearms.[20] Brown left the truck at a Wal-Mart parking lot and flagged down an SUV for a ride home. Police later found Brown and McGlothen at the nearby Intown Suites. [18]

Arrest and trial

Brown was arrested and charged with homicide, especially aggravated robbery, handgun possession and criminal impersonation.[9] Despite being under 18 at the time of the killing, she was tried as an adult. This decision came from Metro Juvenile Court Judge Betty Adams Green on November 14, 2004, who argued that it was too much of a risk to the community to keep the 16-year-old stay in the Juvenile Court System.[21][9]

Brown never denied shooting Allen; however, she argued that the act was committed in self defense,[20] making the act manslaughter rather than homicide.[citation needed]

Brown stated that Allen had intimidated her by repeatedly standing over her while she lay in his bed. As further motivation for the act of self defense, she stated that she believed Allen was reaching for a firearm as the two lay in bed. Thus prompting her to shoot Allen with her own firearm, which she got from her boyfriend for her own protection.[20][16][13][9] Police noted that no gun was found under or near the bed. Based on the position in which Allen's body was discovered, investigators believed that Allen may have been asleep when he was shot. Forensics noted that, postmortem, Allen was laying with his hands underneath his head.[20][16][9] This gives credence to the prosecution's argument that the act was a homicide motivated by Brown's intent to rob Allen.[22] Additionally, Brown admitted to stealing Allen's cash and property and expressed her intention to pawn the stolen rifles.[16] Prosecutors took the stance that Brown had not been in danger and that she had murdered Allen in order to steal from him.[23] She was found guilty of first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery and sentenced to 51 years to life in prison.[24][25]

Just from Wiki she should stay in Prison
I've changed my view on this

If you commit a crime to defend yourself from someone committing a crime while you're committing the original crime, that does not automatically absolve you of guilt from either your original crime or your crime that transpired.

I was banned from posting for a few days, but I'm glad I was still able to report some of the posts here. Goodness...

Anyway, my opinion: I have a soft spot for anyone who is underage and sentenced to long prison terms. 15 years was enough IMO. Hopefully she changes her ways.

And yes, I do believe she is fully responsible for everything that happened, and committed a terrible, terrible crime.

LMAO, welcome back! She has probation for 10 years, and I'm not sure if she will change.

Now that trauma therapy has finally matured to the point that it can actually help people, it should be available to kids. Even though Cyntoia has been an exemplary inmate, I'm sure she still has issues that need to be processed and healed. Things like that don't just go away, even with a lot of reflection and maturity gained with age.

Thank you for finding that info and posting it.
I was surprised to find out that she was diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome during the trial & that the evidence was submitted ... yet that apparently was not taken into consideration during sentencing.

I’ll be honest; I’m pretty skeptical about her .. but still; a juvenile offender with neurological disorder receiving that sentence? Unbelievable.

I did read somewhere that her IQ was 134. That’s a huge asset, however; that combination of high IQ/ FAS-related behavioral disorder? Is sorta sketchy. She needs to steer way clear of old “friends” & hangouts.

As to the posts re: sexual activity with minors being "OK" or not, I can say from near 40 years of parenting and observing my kids' friends, I've seen more than a few girls as young as 12-13 who act very aggressively as far as sexual activity, and who are initiators, and oft times with older fellows. I well recall one schoolmate of my daughter's who was sexually active at age ELEVEN and bragged about it.

Whils I may personally be disgusted by this (young kids being sexually active esp w/older partners), it's naive to think that all young girls who are promiscuous/sexually active are victims. Some are, and some are certainly not.
are you o.k. with 11 year olds signing a 30-year mortgage for a 1 bedroom princess themed cond with a t.i.l. valued at $1.5 ?
who should pay when the mortgage defaults: the adult predatory mortgage specialist or the child who has no capable understanding of how things like amortization schedules work.

It's amazing how, despite the facts presented, people out there will still make up outright lies to suit their agendas. It's actually frightening, to be honest. With the internet, we all have easy access to find out more information about certain things in order to form an opinion. Yet, despite that readily available information, some choose to deliberately ignore it and continue to state outright lies and misinformation. Why do people do this?

On other websites, people have attacked me for my opinions. These people continue to preach falsehoods such as Cyntoia being 'sex trafficked' and how she was a sex slave who was abused and threatened by the victim before executing him in cold blood. They also state that Cyntoia had the IQ of someone 9 years old and other lies.

And it's the same here. We have people claiming that she was a 'sex slave' who was repeatedly raped by the man she shot in the head. All outright lies.

It's apparent that these blind Cyntoia supporters are so desperate to justify her cold blooded execution of the victim, that they are fudging the facts to suit their viewpoints. Portraying the victim as someone that bought Cyntoia as a sex slave and raping her repeatedly, sounds far better to them than the reality, in that there was absolutely no evidence that the victim intended to even have sex with her (or knew her true age of 16 years). The fact is, the two never met before, never had sex, and they spent the time at his place engaging in rather mundane activities such as eating fast food and watching tv. Cyntoia had in fact waited over a week with her boyfriend to find someone to rob, and the victim happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's always been like that - especially with sex and rape cases. I still remember the old case of the football player Blenda Gay who was murdered by his wife. Feminutters claimed she was the victim and it was self defense - even though she cut his throat while she was asleep.

I'm glad the mods took action against one particular poster who was making some rather vile and disturbing accusations against others who chose to review facts. That person (whose name shall remain anonymous) has been spewing nonsense and insults for too long, not only here, but in various other threads.

I didn't say they had sex, I said he hired her for consensual sex in response to the suggestion that Allen was a predator. She would also have every reason to say it didn't happen if she's claiming self defense and shot him to rob him. She admitted in a later hearing that they agreed to sex for $150.
