This is sickening, and a true perversion of Christianity. I have to wonder - did this child attend school outside the home? Did any neighbors notice this?

What a horrible way to die. It took hourse, until his little body could no longer endure this vicious, and sadistic ordeal.

He died of blunt force trauma and hypothermia.

Has anyone read anything more about this tragedy?

Ethan was placed with these "guardians" by the court, who always strives to "keep families together".

Perhaps if he was placed in a caring family of non-relative, he would still be alive.

Sad, sad story. The boy was killed months ago. I don't remember seeing anything about this anywhere.

He wasn't murdered because he couldn't remember some verse from some book. He was murdered because he was in the presence of sick scum.

Sick! Evil beyond belief! He was court-placed to their care. Why?! I detect mental issues just looking at those two weirdos. Nobody in charge of the adoption process suspected a problem?

I'd wager that 99% of CD posters would have seen reason to investigate further before turning children over to those demented sickos. We may fight and bicker in here, but every one of us has more sense then those who have the power.

I'm not inclined to charge the older brother with murder; he was 14 at the time, and living in hell. Lesser reckless endangerment or something.

It's not clear what Timothy's relationship to the boys is; he wouldn't have been appointed "guardian" if he was their father. It sounds like maybe an uncle?

In this article, it states that Ethan has a twin who was also undergoing this punishment at the same time, but apparently survived it.

I would like to know what kind of home study was done, and what follow-up with the family after they were placed there. It would be unlikely a guardian could get away with that in Central Texas, because they would get monthly unannounced visits.

There is never a satisfactory "reason" when a little child is murdered for no reason. Spilled a coke on a game console, wouldn't eat their vegetables, any trivial matter in the mind of a monster is reason to kill a child. It's very sad.

I was raised in a religious fundamentalist background, and memorization was a big thing with these people. We had to memorize all the books of the New Testament and Old Testament, in order, and if we didn't, we had to stand outside the classroom while the rest of the class proceeded in Sunday School. It doesn't surprise me that at it's extreme form a child would be abused or murdered over not memorizing stuff from the Bible.

There are so, so many awful stories like this now, they get lost in the shuffle. I was just reading last week about a young guy who murdered his parents and brother after they kicked him out of the house for stealing $200,000 from them over time, to feed an addiction to a woman on a porn chat site. 20 years ago, that story would have been front page news and talked about, and now it just slips by in a tidal wave of crazy.
