I doubt it. It's a cute contest that is raising money for a good cause. Why would anyone get upset over that?

It's just a fun twist on the naming contest that many zoos in the US already do, except you're not trying to come up with a cute name for a baby animal.

Brian the Brown Snake

Brian the Cockroach.

Hmm.

I think I'll go with the snake for alliteration.

I don't care enough about any of my ex's to name anything after them.

I saw today where a zoo is letting people name a cockroach after their ex, and then they'll feed the roaches to their meerkats.

How about "Brian... Flavor of the South"?

Considering snakes are functionally deaf and can't read I doubt one would know or care what name they get. Life's pretty simple if you're a snake. Always makes me laugh to watch snake owners chatter away to their pets (but I'll admit I do it too). At most, the snake is simply watching your lips move.

Sadly, someone who decides to feel aggrieved will probably dredge up a reason.

Biggest loss in this country? A sense of humor.

Biggest gain in this country? Entitlement.

It used to be/maybe still is... a slogan for Bryan meats. The commercials used to say "Bryan... Flavor of the South."

I thought it was a funny and clever idea, but you have a point.

Snakes have more of a purpose than some crummy ex-boyfriends. At least they help keep the environment balanced by eating excess rodents, insects and pests.

Really bad ex-boyfriends have no purpose.

Yes, that's true. The disrespect would be felt by those who happen to love snakes (or animals in general), myself included.
