You always hear about the thieves, but never getting caught.yes it’s back from 2015, but it’s the first I’ve heard of someone getting caught and getting a substantial sentence.

It seems like a harsh sentence for a non-violent crime that the criminal confessed to. But I am sure many were happy to see this woman off the streets and I guess they have to send a message to others doing the same. Of course she will probably be out in 12 instead of the full 24 years.
Hey, it’s tough “finding” enough merchandise to sell in your eBay store. . (And yes, there’s a lot of stolen merchandise on the Bay.)
The article mentioned she broke into homes as well as swiping packages from porches. This explains to me why there were a bunch of Ring doorbell videos in our AZ neighborhood showing people peering in through the front windows of homes. They want to know if there’s anything worth breaking in for.

Breaking into homes is very dangerous. It can lead to violence really quickly. Imagine being a parent with a young child and seeing a burglar in your home. How do you think any rational parent will react? How will the burglar retaliate? There's so many unknowns, but a viable path to violence ensuing.
I think it is too much for a non-violent crime. I have known a bank robber who did less then a year.
I really think the US needs to really pull our legal system together.
I had my mail stolen. My child, innocent and confused, tried to stop her. She tried to run him over. They did catch her, in part due to my kid's description. But they didn't charge them with our theft or her actually trying to hit my kid with her car. She got a few drug charges and a couple theft charges. So I am happy to see someone get more then a slap on the wrist. But also...come on! Focus on the big crimes, not just on the little ones that get bigger sentences.
I think people are tired of being victimized and stolen from and maybe the courts are starting to see that.
24 years is a nice long vacation for him to sit and think about how maybe he should keep his paws off other people's stuff.
