A 24-year-old man from Berkley was brutally beaten to death after a seemingly minor car crash on Detroit's west side early Monday morning. The crash and beating were caught on surveillance video from a nearby gas station.

Tyler Wingate is remembered for his contagious smile, good spirit, and loving character. His friends said that he was known for - before his life was violently taken early Monday morning.

Video shows Berkley man beaten to death after early morning car crash on Detroit's west side - Story | WJBK

I'd risk leaving the scene rather than take a beating.

This from a news article on the victim:

“He was a friendly and outgoing person,”. “He didn’t see color, race or ethnicity when he looked at people, everyone was the same to him.”

Tragically for him, the rest of the world often doesn't see it that way.

What's the probability the victim's race had NOTHING to do with him being attacked that brutally?

In a perfect world that's reasonable. However, I wasn't born yesterday...

Yeah, in Detroit! I think that's a definite consideration!

Wish I had better things to say about Detroit but this is not surprising to me. From what I have seen an exceedingly unfriendly place where people are often angry and have zero tolerance for one another. Broad sweeping generalization I am sure your experiences may be different, just based on many visits there over the years.
