Good work by cold case LE, though rather bittersweet. Even if the old geezer is found guilty and put away he has lived longer free man than those poor girls he killed.
Lock him the hell up and throw away the key if he is guilty. Cases like this are important to let would be murderers know that they can still be found and tried decades after the fact. Too bad NY did away with the death penalty.
2 weeks ago a cold case was solved involving my friends wife's mother .... his wife's mother was beaten to death in a store robbery 21 years ago ...the bad guy left his blood and dna at the scene 21 years ago ....
for 21 years no match ... my buddy gets a call the other day from the Daytona police ..THEY GOT EM ....
he applied for a job and they ran his prints which were in the system ....... so they caught him ...
It's sad that he lived a full life knowing what he did and never caught.. Whatever he has coming to him, wouldn't do any justice for the family of the loved ones lost. His violent history was never corrected. I'm surprised he wasn't tied to these murders sooner given his history in jail. At 80 years old, life in prison or the death penalty is really nothing to this man!
When we were both 19, my best friend was stabbed to death in her first apartment in Park Slope. They never found anyone responsible. Her brother, who was barely older than us, found her body, and I sat with her grandmother while she cried through the whole funeral service that she had lost her best friend. For months, I couldn't be alone anywhere and sometimes I'd be on the subway, sitting next to someone, and all of a sudden I'd wonder, could this be the guy? It could have been, anyone could have been.
The last time I visited the cemetery, and yes, I still do, her mother was next to her, gone to the grave without ever knowing who took her daughter.
I think it's very well worthwhile, no matter the guy's age, for the world to know what he is and at his age, life in prison isn't nothing, it's everything he has left.
