Heartbreaking.

Evidently the last tourists of the day abruptly had the doors to the cathedral closed in their faces.

At least the bronze statues had been removed earlier this month to allow access for the renovation. So much artwork and history is being consumed by flames, so tragic.

I read that the firefighters were trying to save some of it, Dolly Maddison style. But by the looks of the fire itís unlikely much will survive.

The roof is gone; and they're not sure if the fire can be stopped.

Just awful. Shocking. It's hard to find the words for this. The damage looks quite severe for the entire structure. I had visited Notre Dame a few times some years ago.

How do you conclude that? From what I have read, all indications are that it was construction related.

This is heartbreaking. I was there 2 weeks ago today. I'm so grateful I was able to see it.

Agreed, according to the report I just watched they had just cleared the last of the tourists out for the day to commence construction around 6:40ish local time.

They simply donít have the equipment there to extinguish something of this magnitude as we have in the States.
