I think if she did this to me I wouldn't be able to stop laughing. I mean being handed a note saying "You ugly". I get why she was fired though. She's there to do a job, not pass random notes to the public. If she did this imagine what else inappropriate she was doing. Totally unacceptable to do this on the job.
Silly joke. Sophomoric and silly, but it probably should have been something where the guy laughed it off with the security guard, and he zings her a bit too, both people laugh and move on. Instead, he reports her because culturally speaking, you can't joke like that with a lot of white people. At least he referenced general white people fragility in his explanation for why he reported her.
Culture has nothing to do with this. Upbringing does. The female worker apparently had none. She deserved to be terminated for her actions. Maybe she'll learn something about how better to treat people, but I doubt it based on the way she was laughing.
No one has ever told me I looked ugly, although I have been told a couple of times that I look dangerous. Maybe that's why no one has ever told me I look ugly.

She's not there to joke. She's there to be a professional.
You-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi, you ugly, eh eh, you ugly
that is the first thing
i thought of after i read
the subject line.
Me too, LOL.
Clearly she didn't want or need that job. Tots and pears...
I'm not going to be that old fart complaining about "kids these days" but seriously...there are SOME young "adults" out here getting away with doing things that it would have NEVER EVER occurred to me to do.
By terminating her now, the company has probably saved itself (and her) from worse "publicity" because if she was allowed to get away with it this time, she would certainly have continued and probably escalated her hateful pranks.
Her next target might have been someone experiencing grief or depression or otherwise in a fragile emotional state. No one deserves to be treated like crap by anyone, especially simply as a form of cruel amusement. That man did her no harm. There was no reason other than sheer cruelty for what she did, even though to some it might seem silly or insignificant.
I agree.
I was driving back home after my mother's funeral and I stopped to get gasoline. The clerk must have noticed my sad face and told me, "You would look much prettier if you smiled." I did not respond to her, but it definitely made me feel even worse.
That was almost 30 years ago and I still remember it as if it happened yesterday.
I wonder if these workers, when not goofing off, passing notes and laughing amongst their coworkers, actually ever catch any terrorists.
