Pretty sure he knew he was going to be terminated. Knowing that, you spend money on something that will not help your cause one little bit? Why bother even showing up for the meeting? And why would the company permit a “support person” to tag along? The whole thing reeks of management incompetence. Simply call the guy to the meeting room at the end of the day and fire him. Why make it any harder than it already is?
