Daughter-in-law of Bernie Sanders dies at 46, two days after cancer diagnosis

I wasn't sure where to post this (mods feel free to move it).

Wow, I feel terrible for the family, and my heart goes out to them. More in the sphere of health than any family should have to deal with within a few short weeks....both Bernie and his daughter-in-law.

The daughter-in-law of Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders has died at age 46, days after being diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer.

Dr. Raine Riggs was the wife of the Vermont senator's son Levi Sanders and mother to three children, Sunnee, Ryleigh, and Grayson. She was an accomplished neuropsychologist known for her volunteer work and social advocacy.

Riggs complained of feeling ill weeks ago and was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer following a battery of tests just last week. She died two days after her formal diagnosis on Saturday, the day Sanders returned to Vermont following a heart attack he suffered on the campaign trail.

RIP, Dr. Riggs.

Aww! How sad for the family! I imagine it's a rather over-whelming time for the family these last couple of weeks.

That's not even enough time to ponder the diagnosis.

ANOTHER bizzare 'imminent cancer death' scenario at the start of flu season?

Okay.

Okay.
You're questioning the story? Flu won't kill a 46 yr old unless quite unhealthy to start with, which is unlikely for a doctor.

Tragic news for the Riggs/Sanders families.

Oh my, I didn't know the full story! (When I go I hope I go fast like that.)
The poor family left behind...
Current Affairs seems the spot for this, btw.

Unfortunately, flu can kill a healthy 46 year old.

It is bizarre that flu is being brought up in this thread, since there is no evidence that Dr. Riggs had it.

My condolences to her family.

Oh, how I wish that were true. My best friend died two years ago of the flu as a healthy 38 year old. It was quite sudden and no one - probably not even her - knew she was in trouble until I was at her door with the police to do a wellness check.

Not sure what the flu has to do with this story, though. Unfortunately, there are some cancers that move very quickly and can even catch doctors off guard.
