Yeah, this doesn't make sense at all... carbon fiber is lighter and stiffer than aluminum. Aluminum hardly offers a "supple" ride - the heavier your frame, the more "supple" the ride, which is why some of my "roadie" friends go nuts over vintage stainless frames. In any case... she left out messengers/fixie riders, who are a major fixture in the urban biking scenes of NYC, LA, SF, and Boston. This is one of the more popular and driving bike movements in the US today.

I just saw what I wrote. Crazy auto-correct on my phone. That's supposed to be, "Another tell that she is definitely not a roadie." I love lugged steel frames. Especially the chromed variety. I have a 2003 Tommasini Tecno, and a 2001 Serotta Csi. Both lugged.
