That picture is such slander. Roadies don't look backwards. What's behind us doesn't matter, and anyway looking back ruins the aerodynamics. :-)

Love all the shameless product placements.

They forgot the Bike Messenger. Also the Tourer, a common breed elsewhere but not so much in the US.

Those things are fun. I was at a bike store and they have a back room with an open carpeted area. I would get that thing going then slam on the breaks and whip it around.

Also mountain bikers were not mentioned

They are missing the kind of riders I see a lot of...usually inner city folks (be they black or white) riding some sort of mountain bike or something like that (no fenders)...sometimes rigged with a back rack and plastic crate tied down on the rack, so they can carry stuff. ...I see them on the street and also using the bike racks they have in front of the bus.

which is made of aluminum instead of pricier carbon fiber. Roadies value the lightness because it lets them "feel" the road while providing a "supple" and "exciting" ride.

I think Nancy's article hit it right on the head! Humor and self-deprecating humor at that! True humor only needs a tiny bit of truth to be accurate.
