This is a great idea. Maybe our local bike coalitions can do this for the "bike-curious." Plenty of people could use a little nudge. I was one of those, and started biking 2-3 days a week for errands and such.
Cycling is an awesome way of life. I commute to work because I realized it is basically a money printing fountain of youth. It is "free" transportation, basically. The side effects (better bod, confidence, lower health care costs) are awesome as well. When gas goes up, I just don't give a damn.
If anyone has ever visited or stayed long term in Sweden, you can see how and why this works versus here in the US. In Sweden out in rural areas, they even have little bike paths going through fields and such to create shorter commute distances; property owners in the US would freak (and probably open fire) if this happened here. The urban core in Sweden is very concentrated, not endlessly spread out like many areas in the US.
Honestly, I did not encounter anyone in Sweden that had an actual mental block to riding a bike, just practical reasons more than anything.
