Any senior cyclists here? If yes, what's your favorite bike to ride?

And where do you ride --around town, bike paths, trails, etc. Is there a rails-to-trails near you?

Ever take a bike touring holiday? We'd love to!

Well, my favorite is a Mercian Vincitore with the extra long lugs, or a Hetchins Curly. All Campy New Record, of course.

However, I ride a Surly Cross Check due to limited finances.

I ride a Trek Navigator. There is a rail trail 3 blocks away from my house.

I stopped riding on streets and roads after someone I knew had serious life-changing injuries after being hit by a car.

I have a 2017 Fuji Grand Fondo Classico and mostly ride on country roads so the carbon frame really helps. I switched the original saddle to a 3 West Design. I also have a Catrike Expedition. Wife has the same trike so we ride together. Trikes are a blast! I'm 60 and she's 58.

I ride a Surly Troll all-surface bike with 2" wide Schwalbe Big Apple tires. These are smooth rolling tires are primarily for pavement, but provide good performance on hard packed dirt, packed gravel, cobblestones (common in some towns in Germany). It has enough gears to climb steep hills (12 - 14 percent not unusual in the area). I built up the bike myself about 10 years ago. I used to have 3 other bikes, but sold off all the rest a few years ago.

I ride almost everywhere in Chemnitz, a city of 250K. I don't have a car here. I also take trips around the surrounding countryside, usually following river valleys or routes shown on my area bike route map. The options are almost endless, and I rarely ride the exact same route. My favorite day trip routine is to take a train ride out of the city, up to 30 miles or so. Then I pedal back to my apartment on a route shown on my bike map. I have a region-wide transit pass that lets me ride any train or tram in central Saxony state, so I don't have to buy individual tickets for each train trip. I just check the train schedule app on my smartphone, hop on and off the train where ever I want. Bikes can be rolled on any train or tram, as there are certain train cars with big open spaces to accommodate bikes, baby carriages or wheel chairs.

My favorite is an older Serotta Ti that was originally built with Campy 8-speed and now sports Campy 10-speed.
