Default Saturday's "soggy Michigan" exercise thread

Morning all!

We had a rain filled day yesterday but the sun is out and looks as if we may have a wonderful Saturday up here.

Morgan is growing a few cabbage plants in hopes of grabbing onto a scholarship and one of her plants is huge! We are container growing this, but I am thinking of what we can do to get it in the ground. I'm thinking Bob can build a wooden box to place it in, and maybe get some madder plants for it's neighbors. I will have to talk to him about that today.

Birthday party was a success last night and all the good eating I had done this week was put to rest last night in one single piece of cake, oh and two pieces of fruit pizza! The kids were wonderful, if not a little wild after the root beer that T provided!

I'm planning on a nice walk today, after I get off from here. Then I must run to the library, go grocery shopping, and begin laundry. If I hurry I might be able to throw in bathroom cleaning in the day too.

What ever your day may hold, enjoy it.

Oh, hurry, Sandy--that bathroom cleaning sounds like fun! It's 59 here--brrrrrrrrrr....might work out just to warm up a little! Last weekend was record-breaking heat. Go figure.

Have a good day, everyone!

LOL...Connie, your idea of fun is a bit "off".

Sandy, thanks for the opening. Sounds like you had a good time.

Well, the group I normally sit with at Sat. coffee socials got together at my friend Chris's house today. I co-hosted with her and made a monkey bread. It turned out really, really good and it was so easy.

Before going to bed at night (or at 10 p.m.) take 24 of those Rhodes frozen dinner rolls and put them (still frozen) into a Pam-sprayed bundt pan with chopped pecans or walnuts in the bottom (nuts are optional). After you put in the frozen rolls on top of the nuts, you mix one box of cook & serve butterscotch pudding w/1 cup of brown sugar and sprinkle that over the rolls. Next, mix 1/4 cup white sugar w/1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle that over the top. Melt 1 stick butter (not margarine) and slowly pour it over the top of everything else, trying to cover the sugar mixtures with the liquid butter. Let it sit over night so it will rise. The next a.m., preheat your oven to 350. Line a baking pan w/alum. foil and put the bundt pan on it. Bake for 30 min. When done, turn it over onto a platter or large plate. It comes out like sticky buns. Serve warm. Very rich, but not overly sweet.

It went over very well.

Miss ya, Karla.

Yes Burgler it is cool, sun is gone

Lol Connie have not gotten much done, I am off to get cleaned up and begin my day. Maybe the bathroom cleaning might just have to be put off.

Pattie, the monkey bread is a favorite with Bob, hence why I don't make it anymore. When we lived in NC he ate 3/4 of a batch in one day! My recipe is a little different but the pudding in yours makes it sound like your recipe might just be a tad bit better than mine, oh and I forget the nuts not a big fan.

I forgot to tell you all about the big buck we had hanging with us last night. We were all sitting around the table, which is in front of T's slidding glass door, and I was looking out at the wooded area behind T's house and I saw a big brown creature out there. Well I enjoyed for a minute without telling anyone and then said "look at the deer". lol, my SIL about popped out of his chair He heard us after all had a view of him and gracefully took off to the protection of the woods but it was a beauty to behold. Sigh I love LIVE deer.

Gotta get and begin my day, a little late.

Oh, how cool, Sandy.

Today I did a short arm workout and then a short shoulder workout, so, I got warmed up enough to jump in the shower! That's about it so far, but I am famished.

Have a good rest of your day, everybody.

Good morning!!! (sorry Pattie this is a repeat for you, lol)

We are back home and exhausted. So much for a relaxing trip We drove, well hubby wanted to do all the driving, 1200 miles in 5 days

We started out driving north through West Virginia and it was desolate. We did stop the the "famous":roll eyes: Tamarack. What a huge waste of money and a garbage place. As you can tell I was not impressed. It was supposed to be WV craftsman's things for sale. Yeah and I will pay $600.00 for a foot and a half carving of an otter But I did see a wood bowl and not nearly as nice as Karla's hubby's bowls. They wanted $250.00 for it and it was paper thin.

Then it was off to the Amish country. Our campground was beautiful but it was very hot. We had to be careful traveling with Niki. The whole area is known for their woodwork....well I don;t know how. There are no trees anywhere. Not even shade for cars and the horse and buggies in the parking lots

The towns there were closer together than we thought and very congested. We did not enjoy all the tourist trap junk. We did stop at Lehmans which is cool to see but overpriced.
Home - Lehmans.com

Then we went to a cheese and also a chocolate factory. I expected to see more of the making process.....not.

The only thing I like there was finding a good bulk store....although I was expecting bulk...you know like 25 and 50 pound bags of stuff. Well their bulk is more like 1 pound bags of things just in separated baggies Anyway they did have great prices on spices and I did get some very good deals on apple butter, pumpkin butter, peatch butter and something called peanut butter whip.

Once we left the Amish area we took the backroads towards Dayton. That was a very nice way to go. Ohio is a a super clean state Once we got to near Dayton and our campground, hubby got to go to Gander Mountain. He loves bass Pro, Gander Mountain and Cabelas

The next day we met up with our camping friends at their house. This is the couple I told you about a few months back. The husband fell off a ladder and broke his neck and leg. Anyway, he is healing but still can't turn his head all the way. On a good note....they are the sweetest couple you could ever meet. They have been together at least 50 years and they still show affection and have respect for each other. The time flew by when we were with them. They don't get many visitors and I think they were shocked that we actually went to visit them. They kept thanking us. They are actually the only among friends that have been to our place in TN. As we were leaving Mae, the wife, loaded me up with 5 boxes of canning jars since she doesn't can anymore.

Then it was off the Kentucky. we stayed overnight in Kentucky and took back roads towards TN yesterday morning. We stopped at a really cool flea market that was also outdoors. They were selling chickens, roosters, rabbits, and lots of puppies. I have never seen farm animals at a flea market.

By the time we got to the back roads if TN we were exhausted. We saw a ton of yard sales all along the highway. We were too tired to check them out. We decided to hit the interstate and get home. We can always do shorter trips in TN and hit the backroads.

As soon as I opened the door to unlock our bottom gate, Niki started crying and whining. She knew we were home. It must be the cow smells of home, lol.

We unloaded the van and Mike helped me clean up all the jugs in my garden. My garden went wild while we were gone. I guess it is happy Then we cleaned up the van and collapsed.

Mike and I have decided we don't really like to travel since we don't like tourist traps, crowds, eating out, and shopping. We are going to stick with traveling to visit friends and also do more backroads and state parks since we love nature and checking out yard sales and flea markets. They are always more interesting than stores. So that is the new plan. Maybe we can learn to slow down a bit

Speaking of kids Mike's DD has never asked us for money and we are very proud of her. The one thing she does ask for is help. She loves to start projects and many times Mike and I have to help her finish them. Last night she called and wants us to come over to install her new toilet. Oh joy

Have a wonderful sunday!!!

Good to see you back Lisa. We used to stop at all the backwoods places when I was young, back then it was craftman's delight. I remember one shop in the hills of KY where my Dad bought me a cedar hope chest, it was a beauty. My sister has that now, and Kim has the cedar chest that was my grandpa's.

I love those cedar chests. My DH and I both love boxes...all kinds of boxes, lol.

My roommate in college had a huge wooden chest made for her by her BIL. It was beautiful.
