Good morning everyone

I know it has been a few crazy months for many of us, I know that my exercise routine has just gone "you know where in a handbag"

But now that the official summer is almost upon us I thought it might be fun to do a post that would help those of us that have "misplaced" our directions to the track

So what are your goals and exercise routines ?
Any tips or suggestions you want to share
Maybe you have issues like this darn heat that make doing your regular exercise a challenge

Am I the only one that needs a motivational boost

So what are your goals and exercise routines?

My overall goals are to lose a total of one hundred pounds, keep my blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control and delay knee replacement surgery for as many years as possible.

With the newly recalibrated scale, and recalculated plan (once I learned how "off" my first measurements were) at 265 this morning, I've lost the first 25 - so I have 75 left to reach 190. A mini-goal is to lose the next 25 by November 1. I am doing this by walking. Once fully recovered from surgery, my routine will be to walk four times per week for at least 45 minutes each time.

Any tips or suggestions you want to share.

My best suggestion is to talk about your goals to anyone you think might be truly interested in listening. That could be good friends, spouses, or others who are also working toward their goals - like us! Report in when you post and describe what you've done and how you've done it. The more frequently you talk about it, the more "real" it becomes.

As you do this, be sure to guard against boring anyone. I think at this point I'm able to tell who is interested in hearing about my progress and who isn't. I share my progress with those who are, because they are the ones who will continue to root you toward your goal.

That's the beauty of this thread. It's a wonderful thing to know that there are folks on the other side of my monitor who are also working toward a fitness or wellness goal and to be able to share with you really does help me. I almost feel as though if I don't succeed, aside from letting myself down, I'm letting you down as well - so it's keeps me motivated.

Am I the only one that needs a motivational boost?

Nope! We all need it. No matter how motivated we might be on given days, every one of us needs that pat on the back (or that boot in the butt!) to get out there are do it. I'll be out there again today ... and I hope you're all out there with me!

Charley

P.S. For a little extra motivation, there is always Walking 101 - Start Walking Today

great post charley !!!

it is weird I do well when I have "events" last year when I was getting ready for Alaska and most recently the wedding
I tend not to use the scale since because I have a pretty good amount of muscle I weigh a lot more than I look
my guide is clothes
I would like to firm things up, get those upper arms and abs in better shape

My problem is this heat has put a wrench in the walking, lola & ralph are way to fuzzy and want to come home

I was thinking I would try walking at 6:30 am rofl I think my days of getting up at 4:30 are long gone even hubby has been sleeping in till 5 or 5:30
this would mean the thread might not get started till 8 if you all wouldn't mind

omg ooops I just got a text message form Chaos's dad seems he chewed up the new sprinkler heads we just put in

No problem here. Early morning walking can be very enjoyable! When you come back to start the thread, you can tell us how you did ... and that can be motivation for the rest of us to "keep up with Karla"!

Good morning Karla and Charley!

Although I don't have to lose weight I would be happy to lose about 3-5 pounds and have my legs and butt in better shape but I'm so lazy of lately I just can't get moving.

Lazy Susan has moved in step by step with all her entourage and it doesn't seem as if they want to leave soon.

At the moment there's no heat I can blame...

Anyway I already had some small exercises this morning:

2 sets (each with 30) of push-ups, squats and side kicks left and right.

Tonight's step aerobic time so I'll have another hour of work out.

Charley, how's the walking going? Does your knee still hurt?

LOL! Sprinkler heads get to be expensive if you have to replace them every 2 weeks........

I have absolutely no goals. Shadow keeps me motivated, and we walk every day. I could stand to lose some weight, but I am comfortable with myself. I still want to be a healthy person so I walk (more when it is not so flippin' hot).

I know very few people who don't need any motivation and they are the annoying folks in my life.

Good morning! Some great tips shared here! I think all of us need a pat on the back now and then. I know I do. Thankfully I've stayed motivated enough to exercise 4-6 days a week, the problem being eating healthy. That is my ongoing, everyday battle. My goal is to eat healthy 6 out of 7 days and have 1 day a week to endulge. I haven't quite gotten there yet, but I'm working on it. Today was a Billy Blanks Cardio Work-out. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, all.

Did my 45 min. bike ride this morning. I don't know how inspirational I can be, since I've been at this for about 5 weeks straight now and have lost a whopping 2-3 pounds, depending on the day. And the funny thing is, I've been eating healthier, for the most part, and cut back on the cocktails. What to do, what to do. I think I look and feel trimmer, but not by much.

Anyway....Charley, glad to hear you're getting out there and doing more. 25 lbs. that's great.

Karla, don't they make Chaos-proof heads??? That dog must have teeth of iron, filed down to sharp points!

Have a good day all.

You are defo not the only one who needs a motivational boost. i past my driving test 6 months ago now and have become so dependent on cars!! I decided last night that i wasn't going to use my car unless i really needed to like work. Other than that i will walk to destinations like college and friends houses. Also this coincides well with the petrol strike thats going on here. And better for the environment, so everyones a winner

P.s. When i'm in florida i will need some shoes which are really good for walking and also will be okay in the heat, any suggestions on which are really good quality. i can't find any here, i've looked in local towns and also manchester and liverpool's city centres. If you know of anything suitable, where would i find them, any on or near to International Drive?

Rach, there are ALL SORTS of stores all over the place. If you have a good pair of lightweight walking sneakers or walking shoes like a nike or a reebok or something along that line with white cotton socks would be the best thing unless you ahve a pair of really comfortable sandals that you've worn so you don't get blisters. I can't emphasize that enough.

Quick update on Millie - they now have home health care coming in and it is thru their insurance. Alleluia! Now, we're working out a food schedule to feed them.

They refuse to give us the kids' names and phone numbers - "they have their own lives". Yes, but Mom and Dad need help. Anyway, things are working out. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, support and suggestions.

Love ya all.

PS - CHarley, I saw my carp friends this morning, finally! They still love me!
