So are you accepting new applicants for the exercise thread? I've decided to stop eating chocolate and drinking sodas...and lose some weight. Can I get an amen here! I began my exercise on Saturday when I mowed my yard (two hours later and nine bags of grass!). Today I walked three miles (just under an hour) at lunch. Lunch is the best time for me to exercise because no kids and easy access to the mall. There are three levels and each is 3/4 mile. I'm gonna try and do it every workday. I'm also changing eating habits...cut way down on breads and go back to more salads, veggies and fruits.

AMEN!!!!

You don't have to completely cut chocolate out of your life. I know I don't!! A good idea I've heard people do is pre-cut your choco pieces and freeze them. That way it takes you longer to eat and you portion control it!

Way to go Hoosier!

Thank you, thank you! I'm feelin' the love here. Maybe I'll stay in this forum instead of going back over to Religion.

Since going to back to work in the professional environment I've found myself picking up chocolate and sodas more often than not. Any suggestions on what to do? It's 2 p.m. and I have three hours to go. I think it's more out of wanting something to do in addition to my work...to alleviate stress.

Instead of eating choco and soda ... you can bring healthy snacks with you like carrots and apples.

I buy a lot of fruit/veggie snacks and granola bars for my husband and that's what he snacks on instead of going to the vending machine. Some people are against eating peanuts b'c they are high in fat but I heard they were good for you and eating a few helps suppess appetite. Kashi is a good brand for healthy snacking, IMO.

You can always get into another heated debate on Religion ... that'll give you something *else* to do!!

There are plenty of dufuses here to make you feel right at home!! That red-tape type of stuff must be universal.
Anyway, back to my regularly scheduled schedule, plus maybe i'll see if my son will go shoot some baskets with me!!

Oh, a good little snack I make sometimes is to have a cup of yogurt-fat free, a good flavor like cherry/vanilla or maybe french apple pie flavored and slice a banana into it, then sprinkle a little nutmeg on top, or you could make up a baggie of trail mix with some [what I use for dF, to help w/ cholesterol] lightly salted peanuts, honey roasted peanuts and some raisins-then if you simply must have chocolate, you could throw in a few chocolate chips or some of those 'kissables'! That tastes really good. And it is transportable!
Making fruit salad with yogurt for the dressing is really good too, just take a can of pineapple in juice, apple, raisins-those are the main 3, plus add some banana maybe strawberry, whatever is looking good for the season. Chop up the fruit, the pineapple juice keeps the apple from turning, and fold in the yogurt-this is such a treat when I make it, and it is so good for you!
