Tom Thumb, Whole Foods, Central Market usually. Kroger sometimes. Wal-Mart/Target to save money on certain items like soup.

Albertsons is so expensive I just don't get why they have customers. Do Albertsons customers know they are paying a lot more for groceries than even what Tom Thumb charges??

SuperTarget is my fave place and where I do most of my shopping. Every now and then I stop in Tom Thumb.

HEB is great, but is there one in the metroplex? I haven't ever seen one.

closest core store is in Waxahachie. there are Central Markets in Coit Road in Plano, in Dallas on East Lovers Lane and one in Fort Worth along Interstate 30 south of downtown. i hear there is a Central Market in The Shops of Southlake.

But im not sure of any core stores being located in the metroplex. you can thank walmart for prempting a potential HEB core store in the metroplex by flooding the metro area with around 125 stores.

lol

I have my favorites for different things... and these three are located conveniently nearby:

Kroger for Boar's Head deli meats
Tom Thumb for excellent produce & customer service
Super Walmart for all the drugstore things at cheaper prices

No Albertson's here anymore (it closed up!) and no SuperTarget.

I have to say Walmart to save money, but I lurvs me some Tom Thumb! Their store brand, Lucerne, the cottage cheese...almost as good as the cottage cheese I had in Israel that was fresh from a kibbutz. Ok, not NEARLY as good, but the best flavor I've found amongst all the brands carried in the stores right now.

I know...weird...but I hadn't had cottage cheese since I was a kid and then I visited my then-fiancee in Israel and being a bit sheltered, the food at the breakfast buffet intimidated me so I went with what I knew I liked as a kid. Cottage cheese. That got me hooked, because it was so good. Or maybe I was just starving. Anyhoo...store bought cottage cheese disappointed me for 5 years, up until I moved to the Dallas area and tried theirs.

Albertson's used to carry a deli meat that was, IMHO, better than Boars Head. Dietz & Watson. Their mesquite smoked turkey was awesome.
