Since this forum seems to have kind of an obsession with hamburgers (no problem to me), did anyone else see Leno last night? Josh Brolin gave a huge endorsement to WHATABURGER. Seems his dear late mom loved them and insisted that he try one. He loved it and gave it a big thumbs up. And this is an actor from California! And absolutely no mention of In N' Out!!!!

His mom was from Corpus Christi.

Josh Brolin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
Brolin was born in Santa Monica, California, the son of Jane Cameron Agee, a wildlife activist and native of Corpus Christi, Texas, and actor James Brolin.[2][3] Brolin was raised on a California ranch with little exposure to his father's acting career.[4] His parents divorced when he was 18 and his stepmother is singer/actress Barbra Streisand. He became interested in acting after taking an improv acting class in high school.[4]

Forgot to add that Corpus Christi is where the first ever Whataburger location opened.

Whataburger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So it's not surprising that someone who is from there and was around when that first ever location opened up would think so fondly of it and mention it to her son, who wanted to share a nice story about his mom on TV. IMHO, it does not mean much besides that, especially not in terms of any "burger war."

In 1961 my family lived in Monterrey Mexico on tourist papers and had to come to border every 5 months. The hamburgers in Mexico really sucked at that time and our first and last stop when we crossed was a Whataburger Joint.

As my kids grew up they claimed that I could find a Whataburger anywhere. Best Hamburger I ever had was at Adairs but any of the Points were good also.

Not necessarily burger related, but when Carl's Jr. opens in Richardson I sure hope hot ham-and-cheese is on the menu!

Don't get your hopes up one bit. It's a Carl's Jr that CKE (Carl Karcher Enterprises, parent company of Carl's and Hardee's) is opening in Richardson (And around the metro), not a Hardee's. The "Hot Ham and Cheese" is a Hardee's item and Carl's Jr does not have Hardee's items on their menus.
