Closer to home, check out the Denton music scene. Not sure what type of music is the main style, but I have heard lots of people talk about the music scene there.

Pop into Good Records - look at their schedule for instore performances. Sometimes the staff can be grumpy and not particularly helpful, but maybe you'll catch them on a good day....anyway, try to start a chat with them and see where it leads.

Theres been some bands come from Gainsville. The Destro was one. I enjoy their music.

Where are you guys from originally? What made you decide to move to Gainsville?

When you say melodic death, are you talking more along the line of In Flames, At the Gates, Gates of Ishtar, Dark Tranquility, etc. or something else?

I used to play in several bands (Im a drummer with an insatiable hunger for fast double bass-well I used to be anyway-its been a while). One was a black metal band and one was a death metal band. We used to do alot of covers. We covered everything from Chainsaw Guts***k by Mayhem, to Murderer by Krisiun, to Skull Full of Maggots by Cannibal Corpse, to Run to the Hills by Iron Madien.

I miss those days. My dream was to pursue music. But alas, I sold my soul to corporate America and the airline industry.
