I am considering opening a business that supports fair trade in the Dallas area. I will be living in Rockwall for a period of time. I am interested in a boutique style storefront that celebrates woman around the world. Buying handmade products form artisans all over the world. I am passionate about my dream to support third world countries by providing their art to Americans. I know this would be a great start in CA, however, I will not be moving there. DO you think this type of business would be successful in the Dallas area? IT would be really different items, such as art, jewelry, clothing.....Having this type of business would bring unique flare, and support and celebrate our world as a whole. I have much research to do in order to proceed. Do you know of any places like that in the area? Thanks!

Look in the areas around Uptown, Victory Plaza, McKinney Ave, Knox-Henderson. These are all in Dallas. Another way to possibly see if one could be a go in the Rockwall area is to set up a booth at their fairs they have on the square and see what the interest is. It might work as there are TONS of stay at home mom's in the area and they DO shop. If it does then you might look at something around the square in Rockwall or in the new area by the lake w/ the movie theater and other shops. Or head over to Garland to the mall at Firewheel. It is high rent though . Good luck and sounds great.

I would look at the more boutique areas such as the old part of Plano, McKinney or even Frisco. While ideally you want something nearby, you also need people with enough money and intelligence to support such a cottage industry type of venue. If you were willing I would suggest trying the Lovers Lane or Snider Park area around SMU.
