You're looking at the entire area. I was talking about the Downtown areas of both ities, where Houston is no where near Dallas (and it really isn't if you look at the overall areas, too).

Downtown Houston is easily twice as large as Downtown Dallas in area alone.

If they think they're going to be able to sell that many $1mm plus highrise condos in DTD more power to them. I predict this project will take quite a bit of time to fill. But, hey, at least the skyline will improve.

Yes, I noticed after I posted it. It was too late to edit.
Either way, I agree with you guys. I dont think its the right time to put more buildings up downtown when the vacancy rate is 25%.

The Museum tower is nice and will add greatly to the skyline, but Dallas needs to fill up the vacant buildings with AFFORDABLE residences. Prime location and nice building, but wrong time, and waay too overpriced. I also hear that another condo highrise will resume contruction by the end of the summer(Stoneleigh residence?).

A developer purchased alot of vacant buildings around the Joule hotel and expand it. Another big building is being renovated into a condo building(the Grand Ricci I think). The Atmos complex and the Continental building have received funding, so when the time is right, it will be renovated into residences.
The only credit I give to Dallas developers is having Brass Balls, but brains? Not so much.
But at least it will be a better skyline to look at!
