They're looking for short-term profits (otherwise long-term won't happen because they will be out of business). Young people spend more money shopping than old people.

Generation Y, are the kids of baby boomers and some Gen Xers, we're 60-70 million strong (according to who you believe), as the boomers die off we're the ones taking their place. Gen X was so small about 46 million, doesn't it make more sense to cater to us?
