Default I missed Jury Duty - What now?

I thought I had Jury Duty this Friday. It turns out I was supposed to go on Monday.

I remember many years ago going to Jury Duty and they read out loud the names of people scheduled to be there. Every time there was a name read and no one responded the judge replied "Warrant".

So, what the heck can I do now? Do they still put out warrants and arrest people for not showing up to Jury Duty?

Call them in the morning, I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened to people. Explain yourself and ask for a new date. I think they will work with you.

Yes, phone them. This has happened to me in Dallas county and they were very nice when I phoned. I think you can also follow up with an email.

click the following link to see if a warrant has been issued....... Dallas County Wanted ......the judge may be showboating...........if warrants were issued to all who didn't show up for jury duty, the number for this would be astronomical

Are you talking Dallas County? I love jury duty and usually show up, but I have no showed, no called several times over the years and nothing happens. I have also called sometimes to reschedule. I have relatives that never go when called. It's not the end of the world. Smaller counties might be different.

I called the number on the jury summons. The recording said to send a letter explaining why you missed your date and to request a new date. Looking through my old letters, I did this back in 2007 because I was working overseas. So it is no big deal.

You will be thrown in jail with Lindsay Lohan at a Maximum Security Facility.

Kidding. Just call and they will reschedule.

I got my very first jury duty summons today (Dallas County) and thought I shouldn't open a new thread but rather ask here. I sincerely hope they don't pick me, but like a good citizen I will show up anyway Any tips on where I should park (driving in downtown Dallas still freaks me out), how I should dress and just general information what to expect that day?

At first I didn't like jury duty, but now I'm going to use that opportunity to be influential, passing out my propaganda, and other political paraphenalia.
First off, those people are supposed to serve us, not vice versa. That means they need to pay us. I'm sorry, this isn't slavery. If they want to do their legal business, then like the rest of us they need to pay for their damn business.
